Location
It is located in the Czech west, near the German border, and it is considered a rural area surrounded by nature and green mountains. It is 128 km away from the city of Prague and about 22 km away from the city of Karlovy Vary.

History
In 1864, when miners were prospecting for ore in the Svornost mining area at a depth of about half a kilometre, a powerful spring of water exploded from this hole and was flowing intensely. For decades, no one could imagine that this spring would become the reason for Jachymov's fame as a health resort, after its discovery, of course, by Madame Curie. We believe that 1906 was the starting point for local spa practices.
At first there were only small private baths, and the state quickly occupied the first place in this field. In 1911, the first health resort was opened, where spring water was brought to the resort through a pipeline extending for several kilometers. The remarkable healing effects enriched the idea of building the Radium Kurhawi Hotel and Spa, which is known today as Radium Palace, which opened in 1912 and at that time occupied a distinguished position among the best hotels that Europe could offer in this field. Many celebrities from politics, industry and culture used to come here for treatment
The spa company is a joint-stock company called Léčebné lázně Jáchymov, a.s., which was established 18 years ago. These eighteen years are a small part of the hundreds of years of experience in the field of resorts in Jachymov and centuries of human experience related to the treatment effects of radon gas water. One of the recent traditions at the Jachymov Resort is the medical orientation in resort care, as well as the high level of accommodation and provision of integrated services.
